Frame relay customers “have to go away”

Legacy services have long tails. The average enterprise with a branch or retail network long ago moved to MPLS, and some years down the road we may be saying the same for the transition from POTS to IP voice. But certain applications at some enterprises have been operating for so long on frame and ATM – as at one time they might have been operating on multipoint private lines – that the incentive to move never took hold.

So I suppose you can understand the frustration expressed by carrier executives when they actually seem to tell long-time legacy customers that they don’t even want them anymore.
